Adventure and relaxation in the enchanting nature of Lapland!

In the small village Bjärdakken, where your holiday home is located, there are only three permanent residents and thereby invite to a really quiet holiday. The house is located about 18 km outside Sorsele at the river Vindälven. The plot of approx 1.5 acres is surrounded by forest and you come here easily via road 363. The river is very rich on fish and here about 2 km wide. So, you have the best conditions for boating, swimming and fishing.

The cottage is designed for self-catering and includes a kitchenette with refrigerator, stove and sink. The bathroom contains a shower and toilet. Further the cottage consists of a double bedroom and a loft with two single beds.

The cottage has geothermal heating, which guarantees a comfortable temperature whatever the season. But the real Lapland-esteem and a very cozy feeling arises only when one hears the crackling of the stone stove and see the flickering light in the room.

The surroundings of Sorsele with its fish-filled streams and rivers are among the best fishing areas in northern Scandinavia. There are game fish such as salmon, trout, grayling and char. But it's not unusual that you can catch even pike, perch and whitefish.

Summer and autumn are perfect to enjoy hiking in the mountains and other nature experiences. Maybe you get sight of moose, reindeer, eagle and bear, with a little luck.
During the winter the area enchants with its beautiful snow-covered woods and fields, which can calm the most stressful of souls. Northern Lights are an amazing phenomenon that can be recommended to enjoy. This period may be advantageous to go out on a snowy adventure, perhaps by dog sled or snowmobile. On-site guided safaris are offered.

If you want to ski go can go to Nalovardo 4 km away where there are several slopes of varying difficulty.

On site there is, as mentioned above, the possibility of booking various tours with a trained guide who can tell about the history and the Sami culture.

Infos about the region Lapland

Lapland is Sweden’s biggest and most northern historical province and has borders with Norway and Finland. The province has less than 1 inhabitant per square kilometer and comprises more than one fourth of Sweden’s land area.
Lapland is the province of contrasts: There is Sweden’s highest mountain, the Kebnekaise, as well as Sweden’s deepest lake, the Hornavan. While there is permafrost in the mountain areas, temperatures of 25 degrees centigrade can easily be reached in summer in the lower areas. But not only considering the climate the differences in this area are huge; you will even find a large diversity in the languages spoken in this area. Next to Swedish, there are the minority languages Finnish, Sami and the Finnish Meänkieli dialect. Many villages and cities have Sami or Meänkieli names. The Sami, the native population of this area, had their first nomad settlements along the rivers and lakes of this area maybe already 9000 years ago.
The county can even provide UNESCO world heritage: the Laponian area, consisting of 4 national parks and 2 nature preserves. In general, Norrbottens län can be seen as one huge nature preserve. In the whole province, there are 165 nature preserves, 47 protection areas for birds and 8 national parks, which make out more than 90% of all Sweden’s nature preservation areas.
The cold winter climate allows some very unusual attractions: Every fall there is an ice hotel built in Jukkasjärvi, approximately 200 km north of the arctic circle.
So, if you wish to spend your holiday in a lonely nature, Lapland is the right place for you. If you don’t mind frost, then you will have the biggest chances to see an Aurora in Norrbotten in winter. And in summer, when it can be even warmer than 25 degrees north of the arctic circle, you can see the Midnight Sun.
