Hälsingland is located in southern Norrland in northern Sweden and is famous for its beautiful landscape with large farms, high mountains and beautiful valleys. The northern parts of the province is of distinctive wilderness character. Hälsingland's largest city is Hudiksvall and the most important watercourse is the river Ljusnan, coming from Härjedalen it runs through the entire province and ends at the town of Ljusne. Ljusnan is Sweden's ninth longest river and offers excellent fishing for grayling and trout. Hälsingland is known for its magnificent farms, known as ”Hälsingegĺrdar”. Two or three storeys high, they are built to display the wealth and independence, much ingenuity has been required to decorate their interiors, combining noble fashion with traditional materials and techniques. It is worth mentioning that Princess Madeleine of Sweden is both Hälsinglands and Gästriklands duchess. Welcome to southern Norrland and the beautiful province Hälsingland!
