You will find Halland at the coast of Kattegat with Halmstad as county seat. Halland has a dramatic history of war between Sweden and Denmark and has historically changed nationality several times. This dark period was marked by great destruction and poverty. After the Peace of Roskilde in 1658 Halland became swedish and the peace lead the region to start flourishing again. Halland's early history was marked by the Vikings and there are many relics left to behold such as graves, grave liners and stone cists. Halland is known for its beautiful scenery, with coastal, sandy beaches, forests and lakes. Even the famous salmon and sea trout rivers Viskan, Ätran, Nissan and Lagan flow through the rolling landscape of Halland. There are many activities to engage in in the province.
